Sailing triumph and camaraderie take centre stage                       

The highly renowned and weeklong European Championship 2023 Fareast 28R, the largest regatta and first ever international sailing competition for this specific yacht class held in Cyprus, took place from 19- 25 November, bringing together 15 teams from 8 nations, namely Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Israel, Romania, Sweden, Ukraine, and Cyprus, to race head to head.

Hosted by Limassol Marina, this prestigious event was co-organised by Cyprus International Sailing Club (CISC) in collaboration with Freedom Finance Europe, as well as the support of the Limassol Municipality. Twelve exciting races were held over 5 days of sailing, with competitors battling it out with each other and challenging weather conditions too, adding an exhilarating touch to this competition. Happy Yachting was the winning team from Sweden, with S for Summer from Romania coming in second, and Cyprus teams Bravo and Freedom Sailing 2 taking 3rd and 4th positions.

The European Championship 2023 Fareast 28R was undoubtedly a spectacular showcase of skill, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among competing team, marking a milestone as the first ever competition of its size in Cyprus. With memorable performances from all competing teams, this event left an indelible mark on the sailing community.
