Let the Christmas on the Sea festivities begin
Limassol Marina celebrated the beginning of the most festive season of the year with a dazzling Christmas lighting ceremony in the presence of thousands of people at the Marina’s Square on Saturday, 23rd November. Marking our 10th annual “Christmas on the Sea” celebration, as part of our 10-year anniversary, we lit up the sparkling lights of the much-loved 12m high Christmas tree, transforming the entire project into a breathtaking festive wonderland. Families and friends experienced the magic of the season, creating unforgettable memories with their loved ones.
This year’s “Christmas on the Sea” brought an unprecedented atmosphere of joy and happiness, elevating the festive spirit of the occasion. Accompanied by Limassol’s Mayor, Mr. Yiannis Armeftis, who officially marked the beginning of Christmas by switching on the lights, the snow-covered Marina adorned with dazzling decorations—turned into a dreamy scene.
As part of the unique event’s set-up, all the visitors had the opportunity to experience various Christmas activities and festive shows that enhanced in the joyful spirit. An interactive arts and craft workshop for children by Aphi Creative Space, a brilliant dance performance from Angelia School of Dance, and a repertoire of beautiful Christmas tunes and carols by ARIS children’s choir. Added to the jolly spirit a music performance from Funky Grannies, put everyone into the Christmas spirit, creating the ultimate festive atmosphere. The arrival of Santa Claus was an especially cheerful part of the event, made even more special by his sharing of gifts and love across Limassol Marina, while children had the chance to take photographs with him in a specifically designed area which was dedicated to him for that purpose.
A charity Christmas Market in support of the Funraising Charity Foundation added a meaningful touch to the event. Visitors indulged in holiday shopping, choosing from a selection of decorations, accessories, jewellery, and more. Volunteers further enhanced the Christmas spirit by serving warm mulled wine and roasted chestnuts to raise funds for the Foundation.
